| Q. |
How does offering one or more of the courses offered by The EXCEL® Program help your
school? |
| A. |
There are numerous benefits. First, it helps your students improve their skills and
competencies in a variety of areas that allow them to realize their full academic potential.
Whether enhancing their study skills, reading comprehension abilities or helping them to
improve their scores on private school entrance exams, it is a win-win for both the students
and the school. In addition, parents are pleased to see that the school is on the cutting edge of
curriculum innovation and are impressed when they see the school offers one or more of
these exciting courses. From a marketing perspective, it differentiates your school from the
others in your area. For example, several of our client schools show the Study-Wise®
Student Notebook to the parents of prospective students as a recruitment strategy when
touring the school. |

| Q. |
Are the courses remedial or enrichment? |
| A. |
Most of the courses are enrichment to enhance the students’ academic skills. The courses are
primarily designed for students reading at or above grade level. However, students operating
a little below grade level, students with minor learning disabilities, or students with mild
(ADD) or (ADHD) have successfully benefited from the courses. |

|
| Q. |
When are the courses typically offered? |
| A. |
The scheduling is very flexible and each school arranges its own schedule. If offered during
the school day the course may be offered one time a week for the entire school year or
Monday – Friday so that it can be completed during a normal 9-week grading period.
Some schools have, for example, offered the course during media time. Other schools
offer the course as part of the language arts curriculum. One school offers the course during
guidance time. The Test-Prep Course for the ISEE or SSAT is typically scheduled one
afternoon a week for seven weeks in the fall semester so it is completed just before the date
the test is administered. |

|
| Q. |
What if our school would like to implement one or more of these courses, but has
budget constraints? |
| A. |
Some schools simply ask the parents to pay an extra fee for the Student Notebooks. In one
school the PTO volunteered to pay for the course materials. Other schools offer the course(s)
as a revenue generator. The courses are offered as part of a fee-based after-school and/or
summer enrichment program. By doing so, these schools made a return on their initial
investment in the course materials with the first course offering. |

|
| Q. |
Who teaches the course(s)? |
| A. |
Teachers from varying disciplines have successfully taught the courses. In one school it is
the librarian/media specialist, in another school it is the guidance counselor, while in others it
is the language arts, reading teacher or any classroom teacher. We have found that it helps immensely if the teacher who is selected or volunteers to teach one of these courses is enthusiastic about the course and excited about teaching it. |
