Having a combined 80 years of experience in education, we believe we have some insight into what information can be beneficial to both students and their parents. Although we do not sell our curriculum materials directly to parents at this time, we have put together some helpful information and resources for you and your child. Students, even the brightest ones, can benefit from some of this information. As a parent of a school age child, you will want to check out some of the [Resources] we have included in our Web Page that are specifically designed to help parents. Please take a few minutes to review this material.
Our mission is to serve as a vital resource to schools, tutoring businesses and parents to help students achieve their academic potential. Our focus is primarily on students in grades 4 – 7. The reason we focus on this age group is that the academic performance of many of these students begins to decline with the transition from a self-contained classroom environment in elementary school to the content area format of middle school. At the middle school level students are expected to process and absorb larger amounts of information. This requires them to be more organized, take notes effectively, manage their study time better and be able to read at different speeds. By learning much needed study skills, this transition is made much easier.
When it comes time to “show what you know” on a test, some students seem to be more test sophisticated than others. This is a distinct disadvantage to those students who are not as “test-wise.” We have included some information on test-taking that should help these students when taking a Multiple-Choice or True-False test. Again refer to the respective [Resources] pages.
Some students may appear to be good verbal readers, but yet not comprehend a lot of what they read. Reading comprehension is crucial to success in most academic endeavors. Students need to be actively thinking while reading - what we call “mind conversations” so that their comprehension is enhanced.
Being organized is very helpful whether it is the house, your child’s room or study area. We have included a wealth of information that will help you organize your home in addition to helping your child become more organized. See the appropriate [Resources] pages.
If, after reviewing our Web Page information for Schools, you believe the students of your child’s school would benefit from participating in any of our comprehensive turn-key curricula, we would greatly appreciate your calling our Web Page to the attention of a teacher, curriculum coordinator or especially the Principal/Head of School. In addition, they are welcome to contact us directly on our toll free number.
